Car wont shift till 7000-7200 rpms???

I'm new to F-Body's first of all.. I just bought a built 94 Trans Am, I dont know all the specifics on the car because the guy I got it from didn't build it.. With that said, it is cammed, alum heads, 3500 stall, 4.10 gears.... The problem is it wont shift until 7000 rpms if i manually shift it, and if I leave it in drive it will shift boom, boom ,boom real quick (even under wot)... I've tried to short shift it manually (bump it to second gear at 5000 rpms) and it still goes to 7000... Detent cable adj didnt change anything other than the shift points under normal driving... Is this controlled by the computer???? Thanks Troy

if it has a cable, then its not computer controlled. But a 94 should be computer controlled

It pulls hard to 6500, past that it kinda noses over and then takes of hard again when it shifts.... If I had a solid roller cam I wouldnt care but Hyd rollers just dont make that high hp past 6500... I think the car would pick up at the track a couple tenths if it would shift sooner...

Something going on in the govnor. 700r4 is not by any means a drag trans. lol they don't last that long and few people can actually build them to hold the power. Not to mention that if you want to change shift points through the gov is a the way.
