If your building a drag car that wont see much, if any street, build a TH400. Much stronger than a 'built' 4L60E.

I know/met people that do drive them on the street, sure. It wouldnt fit MY standards of DDing, it might you though.
No overdrive is a killer for me. Besides that, its an awesome transmission.

2001 3.8 Black - sold- 2000 SS Black M6
well the way chevy brakes things down is like this
4L60E
4 - number of gears
L - Longitudinal, meaning its for rear wheel drive
60 - HP rating, you mult by 10, divide by 2, so its rated for 300 hp
E - electronic shifting.
so without the E, is the old ones, 4L60, before electronic shifting. 4L80E, same trans, but handles 400 HP.
TH400 is solid, so is the 700R, but I dont know much about them.

The only bad thing about a turbo 400 trans is that it will eat gas mileage bad. If you only cruise it once in a while don't worry about it. It won't be much worse than a pickup.
