bumping limiter on 1 2 shift
hey guys, I put in the transgo shift kit and now its hitting the rev limiter shifting from first to second. I didn't install the clutch springs because I didn't want to pull the tranney. Could this be the reason?

From all the wright ups it doesn't seem like most people even do that part of the shift kit. Am I right?

sorry that didnt come out right, over 5000 rpm when your in first or second the 3-4 cluch pack engages just because the trans is spinning so fast the springs stiffen the 3-4 clutch pack to keep this from happening and keeps the 3-4 from burning up which will happen eventually if u run your car hard alot

ok that makes more sense. So I hope if I have the car long enough to put a stall in and do that part of the shift kit that it will go away. I think it already has problems with the 3/4 clutch pack because below 55 I have to keep it in d because it shutters back and forth from 3-4th

You might wanna consider removing that shift kit and having the computer retuned for firmer shifts.

Would it make a difference if I had a tune with the shift kit? I'm thinking of getting headers and ory soon and I would need a tune for that and then I could have the trans tuned in too

seams like somethings really wrong with the trans now. Its slipping bad then slamming the next gear. I don't know if I did something wrong with the shift kit or what but its out of my league now. I'm just gonna break down and take it to a shop.

Haven't gotten a chance to run it to a shop yet but It just completely lost 2nd gear..
From a start it will take off like normal but wont shift until I completely let off then it goes to 3rd.
Any ideas on what I messed up or approximately how much this can be?
Good thing I've been saving for long tubes.

If you've lost 4th and reverse along with 2nd, then it could be a broken sunshell.

For now I'm only missing 2nd. And since its my daily driver its gonna take me a couple more days until I can put it in the shop. I hope whatever it is doesn't get worse over the next couple days with me being extremely easy on it but I don't really have a choice.
The soonest I can get it to a shop is monday and its an aamco.. Anyone know if they would be okay to go through?
If I find somewhere that will do it for that Id be happy but would that be with me pulling the tranny or them?

i would look around for somone other than aamco you need somone to build it up if your planning on putting stuff on it to make more hp i bought a complete trans from a non sponser for 1600 and they claim it will hold 700 hp its only been in for 2 weeks now but it shifts hard and seems to be well built then the shop that put it in charged 250 to take mine out and install new one

The cheapest trans I've found so far was 2200 without it being installed. Where did you get yours?
