After market shifter for the A4

Has anyone installed an aftermarket autmatic shifter in their F body? I have a 98 trans am. wondering if anyone has, what kind they installed, and how easy it was?

I don't think any aftermarket shifters are made for the 4L60. Notice above is a TH350 orTH400. I called B&M who said their attempt at making a 4L60 shifter failed. Hurst said they had a prototype in a test car, but after follwing it for a couple years I never saw it come into production. I've seen TH700R4 shifters, but not anything for the 4L60. Too bad, I would have gotten one.

One reason may be that you don't need one. In the older th350s and 400s, you had to make the shift by hand. for the 4l60's, the computer can be tuned to shift at the RPM you want (much faster and more repeatable than we could do it), eliminating the need for you to try to shift yourself at the right time.

I did get an aftermarket knob actually. The factory plastic knob didn't do much for me, even if it was leather wrapped.
