    2001 CAMARO

    4L60 hits the rev limiter during 2nd to 3rd shift

    WTF some times it shifts some times it wont, shift point is set at 6,200 1st to second, and 5,800 2nd to 3rd and some times it will bounce off the rev limiter before shifting into 3rd.

    Is there a way to set my shift points on HP tuners to shift on rpm only and not use mph settings at all?

    have you ever had any rpm flare during the 2-3 shift? If so, this is not a tuning issue...

    What is RPM flare? the rev limiter is set at 6600 across the board. and I have backed the 2nd to 3rd shift down to 5,800 only to get it to shift sometimes when it does shift it is like it holds for a second and the st will shift.

    I have my mph's all lowered, and 1-2 is 5900 rpm / 2-3 is 6200 rpm and with the spray, I average just under 7000 rpm on the actual shifts... ( my rev limit is 7400 )

    There are about 2 possible culprits... your tire-size/internal trans calc'd speed is off (doesn't matter what the PCM says in the scanner) or this is the beginning of tranny trouble. If you have had some RPM flare on the 2-3 then the trans is suspect. If not, fix your gear/tire height. Do some logging, you want to hit WOT shift MPH about 2-4 MPH before being near it RPM-wise.

    ^^^ agree with what Frost said,had this happen before when trans went south! even had to lower shift RPM to get it to shift where I wanted.

    The trans is a new 4l65 built by outlaw trans in cumming Ga. so I don't really know what it came out of but it is a Outlaw 550 hp package with all the good stuff, the car had a 3.23 gear in it and it was doing the same thing , I recently installed a 4.10 and it still does the same thing, I backed the shift point down to 5,800 just to make it shift at 6,300. but it does sound like the shaft rpm and the logging data are mismatched.
