    Y pipe

i just got my exhaust in and i didnt get a y pipe installed. did i make a mistake on that? and if i did get it installed would it give me more horse power or make my computer run in limp mode? and i want to get around 400 in the motor.

Do you have any other mods? A exhaust alone is not going to give you 400hp and I wouldn't say a y-pipe will give you more power it will allow your engine to breath better for sure which will make it perform better. I would go with an aftermarket Y just because the stock one sucks.

A y pipe will not give you much if any horsepower. Now a long tube header/y pipe combo will. Skip changing just the y and get a good header/y pipe combo. In answer to your question no I don't think you made a mistake.

a y pipe on stock exhaust manifolds will give you no more than 5 h.p.
an intake and tune will net you 15 hp at the most.

Stickers, your gonna need alot of stickers, they are good for at least 7.5 horse each,
Then you will need all royal purple fluids, alll through your drivetrain,
Throw in an intake tornado, to get things swirling through there,
Top it of with an Intake Temp. Chip and you should be about that 400 range.
Then your gonna need a nice wing on the back to give some downforce for traction,
Might even throw on some naaawwzz to get things movin too.

im guessing we have different working definitions of exhaust.

to the OP, do you mean catback when you say you got exhaust installed? depending on what you want you probably did a good thing by waiting to get a new Ypipe.

with longtube headers (which are the better power choice) you NEED a new ypipe anyways, so if u bought one with catback only ur just throwing money away.

but a full exhaust (which to me means longtubes, ypipe, and catback) LS1 will typically dyno around 340rwhp, which is about 400 at the motor (which is the justification for my first statement )
