Some people have simply removed the fuses/relays associated with the pump. Most people just go in, remove the pump and install a block-off plate and remove all the related hoses to the system. You don't need a new belt from what I understand (unless you broke yours). Unless you have the AIR system tuned out of your PCM, it will trigger the SES light after a few run cycles. I'm sure somebody else will chine in. I was actually reading up on the AIR system prior to reading this post.

if im correct...the air pump is not belt driven its tucked in the bumper on drivers side you just remove it along with corresponding hoses block off what needs to be blocked off ie egr/air...then have it tuned out. i removed mine during the header installation

youre correct, AIR pump is not belt driven, its under your drivers side headlight, kind of a bitch to get to.

If you life your car there is a little triangle louvre that can be removed in front of the tire

Are you referring to the air conditioning, by chance? If so, it's driven by a seperate belt that can simply be removed without affecting other componants. If it's the air pump, just follow Jeff's thread.

^^ Good thought. The original post is a bit confusing.

I wasn't quite sure either, so I figured I'd throw it out as an option too.

like someone else said...it's behind the drivers side headlight. I know on the formula's there's a drop down panel you can open to get to it and take it out altogther. You can disable it with the relay and fuse but keep in mind you'll throw a code for it. Won't hurt anything to take it out....just get a code for it.
