Is it worth it to speend the extra 100 for coated headers?
I want to get a set of headers for my TA and I am thinking about getting them coated, but I have heard alot of guys say that in time the coating will come off.Is it worth the $100.00 to pay for something that you know is not going to hold up? And how many of you put the headers on alone? I ask because I do everything myself and has no help. How long did it take you and was the horsepower gain really worth it?

Ceramic coated? Yes. Header swap is doable alone, get the car as high up as you can.

I had Jet hot coated headers back in 2000 or 2001 for my old Camaro and one little flake came off in 4 years. I would rather have coated over chromed or bare headers. Chrome flakes and rusts and bare headers rust as well.
Good luck with the headers.

I have Coated Pacesetters for 2 yrs now. Still look the same and the engine bay temps are much cooler then stock and other headers.

I have Dynomax coated headers on our Corvette and really like them. It is a fair weather driver but they have held up well now for over 5 years. Painted headers generally look like crap within a couple of months. For that little bit of difference in price, I would go with coated.

Are you thinking about the coating for decreases in underhood temp or to prevent rust? I'd rather spends the extra cash and get a set of stainless headers and wrap them myself with DEI header wrap.

black- 2000 nhra edition formula
I have had coated pacesetters since 2002. Very little rust, just around the welds. While my car is fair weather only and maybe sees 2k miles per year, the coating is well worth it.

yes please get stainless, wont rust. Chuckie, if your car is a dd i dont know about header wrap because when it gets wet it holds moisture even though stainless steel it might have an effect on them.

I picked up my kook's lt's used pretty cheap and all i did was spend a couple hours going over them with some scotchbrite and they look like new, can't beat a good quality stainless header, will last forever.

If you want to coat your headers than send then buy them bare and send them off to a reputable shop. Often times the headers you buy "pre-coated" are very poorly done.
