    Won't build pressure

Ok, so I changed the fuel pump. Went with the Granatelli, which despite all comments about being a direct replacement, it ain't.

I can hear the pump prime but it takes two attemps before it starts. I checked the fuel pressure today and it is doing the same thing it did at the Pontiac dealer (stupid idiots - but that is another thing). Anyway, trun the key on it only builds 16 pounds of pressure. Once it is started it stays around the 16 pounds as well. When you shut it off it bleeds the pressure off the system.

Am I wrong in thinking I have problem with the regulator because it is doing the same it did with the dealer and they told me it was the fuel pump?

oh yeah, in case it is the regulator - where can you get one?

btw - I know it is in the tank and what a PITA that can be.

Ok, to eliminate any doubt I changed the fuel filter. Didn't get around to checking the fuel pressure yet, but it still acts the same. Takes two tries to start and doesn't seem like it has full power. Anybody have any other ideas?

Give us a call over here. Maybe we'd be able to spot the problem with your Firebird. Just tell them you bought our pump thinking it would fix your issue, that it must be something else, and ask for suggestions as to what it could be. We'd be happy to help.

The guys over at Granatelli pointed me in a little different direction.

Does anyone know the actual function of the small "block" that is just after the fuel filter? I can see that it is some sort of a Tee that has one line that goes to the motor and another going back to the tank? Is this just a distribution block or something else?
