Navy Blue Metallic- 2002 WS6
Will I need to purchase a y-pipe?
(EDIT: My bad for the duplicate post on this in the Firebird/WS6 Forum. Wrong forum, and I tried to correct it, then ended up with a second. At any rate, on with my question.)
Hey all. It's been a long time since I've been in the mod game, or even indulged in my car hobby. Most of what I knew I seem to have forgotten these days haha.
At any rate, my question is this: I'm looking at going with this cat back system from Magnaflow:F-body Catback
Will I need to purchase an aftermarket y-pipe to fit it? Or will this bolt straight up to whats there?
Now, if it won't bolt right up, toss out your recommendations for a decent aftermarket y-pipe please .
If it does bolt right up, what are your opinions on changing the y-pipe? Is the factory piping well-flowing enough to not have to worry about it, or should I definately do the pipe since I'm there?
Keep in mind I'm in california and on a budget. I'd love to just do long tubes and true duals and all, but..well its a pain sometimes to know what will get you in trouble here. I know that as long as the Cats don't get moved, you're technically still legal, but you always get such hassles out here.
I'm pretty sure I'll be stuck with shorties as far as headers, because of emissions. Love the look and price of the BBK CNC series ones, but they aren't yet CARB certified for us CA folks. I emailed them though, and a tech rep said they're looking to have those certified this year. Heres hoping.
Anyways, thanks in advance for your time.Last edited by Walkabout; 04-11-2009 at 10:34 AM. Reason: Oops.
