Where is the best Cut out location on a 01 ss w/ stock exaust
Going to get a manual cut out wheres the best place to put it ? my exaust is stock and still have my cats.........also wheres the best place to buy a manual cut out ?

the y-pipe, soon after they connect. any exhaust shop can cut a hole and weld on a manual cutout, btw.

I put mine in the I pipe, Right befor it goes over the axle, its almost like Gm made a spot for it, fits perfect. I just used band clamps instead of welding thou
It took me about 30 mins to instail. Wasnt hard at all
J2001 SS, Its not the car its the Driver that matters....

Sorry no pics, im sitting in the mountains right now, I would say the sound is a lil quieter the farther back you put it, I got a 3 Inch. What exhaust are you running?
I love the sound of my cutout, ever since i instailed i have never closed it.

You will need a 3" cutout if its stock.

This is a pic of my elect. cutout put on right before the axle...
Its a lil blurry, but you can see how the car does have a spot pretty much made for one. It has a real nice deep tone to it, but screams in wot.

If I were to order a cutout for the stock exhaust, what size to order? I notice they have 2.5" and 3", among others. I'm thinking 3"?
