at what point should I install a cam ?
All I have is a cut out and a lid now but in the future after headers, subframe connectors, stall convertor, cat-back when should the cam come ? what size and whats the $$$ parts/labor ? Would I be better off just getting NOS ?

I'd add drag rims and a 12 bolt to the list of things I'd get before the cam.

I have all the bolt-ons and now a cam. I'm still on the stock rear which is a bad idea but I can still have fun and not break anything (crossing my fingers). I just don't launch very hard. Cams are better for mid and top end power so it shouldnt stress the rear too much. It is good to get tires and a better rear but those are expensive and they dont have the "fun factor" in them. Everyone wants to spend money on mods that make you go faster, but it's still a good idea to upgrade the rear. I notice you have an A4 so you should be fine with the stocker...maybe not after a stall though. I'd do the headers and then the cam...

I might be wrong and I can't speak for Randy...but I don't think he is going for drag racing.
You want to get a stall and cam picked to work together Randy. If you get that far anyways.
Bigger cams like bigger stalls as a general rule. Not always the case, but for the most part. Bigger cams also tend to like shorter gears.

yes u r correct......I mean I plan on going to Commerce GA next March to see what it will do in the 1/4 but no plans for regular drag racing. I know I would go hog wild if I attended alot and my car would stay tore up lol. I want a cam for a great sound. Love a car that hits a big lick.
