What is the best exhaust?
I have an '01 Trans Am and would like to upgrade the exaust. Basically, I want the best sounding exaust for $500 or less. Just had the cats replaced six months ago and can't get them cut out. What would you do?

for that price Magnaflow no question. and if you're looking at higher priced cat-backs you have two Borla and Corsa... Borla gives a nice deep throaty sound and Corsa gives you a very loud natural sound. I have Corsa but mostly for the tips, I'm adding another muffler in the system to quiet it down before heads/cam otherwise it will be obnouxisely loud.

flowmaster sound alright but don't flow worth shit. I'm not quite sure with Borla but I would guess anywhere between 900-1400 and Corsa 900-1300 depending on where you're looking... you can find them for cheaper if used ofcourse...
*edit* to be honest of Magnaflow had come out with their new catback at the time I was buying my Corsa I might have gone with them. I prefer the sound of the Magna over Corsa however Corsa has way more volume over Magna. But the tips are virtually identicle which is the main reason I went with Corsa at the time. Magnaflow is basically the all around happy medium sounds good, flows good, just about the perfect volume and cheap too.Last edited by Bouvers; 08-29-2008 at 09:50 PM.

If your deadset on keeping the cats than get the Loudmouth. Stainless, cheaper than Borla/Corsa, and it'll definaetely turn heads.

I personally think the magnaflows are to quiet with cats get SLP loudmouth if you wanna turn heads. I think the loudmouth sounds alot better on a car WITHOUT headers versus magnaflow.

I have an SLP LM 1... it definatly turns heads. But I think a GMMG is hands down the best sounding exhaust for our cars... but expensive. Thus why my SLP LM is a temporary exhaust for me lol.

Best exhaust? That depends on you. It comes down to what you like best. Some like it real loud, others as quiet as possible. Some like rasp, others hate it. Before buying one system and later wishing you bought something different, listen to as many examples as possible first. There are many here on LS1.com, including links to other sites, so you can hear many, many possible systems.
