    Water Pump Recommendations?

My water pump is leaking, so now I am looking for a replacement! Are certain brands better than others? Also, is the edelbrock #8896 worth the money?

    Thumbs up

Just replaced mine from Autozone. New one with Life-Time Warrenty....
Keep the reciept. Make a photo copy. After time the orginal receipt will fade and not be legible.

The edelbrock would have the advantage of using the later style 2004 and up 2 piece thermostat.
Thermostats are only $12 verses $50 or more for the LS1 1 piece stat.

Due to the 1 piece LS1 design it's only able to operate at around 175 degrees although they are advertised at 160,,,they don't even come close.

The 2 piece design stat is the more conventional design as in the gen 1 motors and are not limited,,,they work at the temps they advertise.

Now I've tried to do some digging,,as I was told you could swap an LS2 pump onto an LS1 and gain the advantage of the 2 piece thermostat,,,but I cannot find any info as of yet. For that reason so far the aftermarket edelbrock looks to have my vote.

Probably not, but at least it's designed to use a real thermostat that works as it should,,,and gets rid of the crappy LS1 designed stat. The money I'd save alone on thermostat changes would make it worth while for me.

It's probably the route I will go as well if I can't find out anything about the LS2 water pumps being interchangable.
