Question VR Throttle Body Velocity Stack

Was scanning the LS-1 section of a parts catalogue last night and noticed this item. It is a sleeve that fits inside the throttle body that "supposedly" gives the same effects as porting it. Any one tried this or have any info as to its utility?

i've never heard of it before but it sounds like bunk to me. why would you want to decrease the cross sectional area of your throttle body and reduce the amount of incoming air flow into the engine? seems like it could hurt performance more than it could do good.

    Flow VS Velocity

Disregarding any attributes this item may/maynot have, it seems to me that the velocity of the airflow counts more than people think. I have never been a fan of gigantic exhaust cross sections, or suitcase size carbs because they slow down the speed at which the gas flows too much. Air and exhaust gas have inertia (being matter) and the inertia of the gas helps it to get around obstructions and in the case of the exhaust pulse, each one helps the one behind it.i have seen many cases where people spent big bucks on drainspout size exhausts and killed all but their top end.
And yes, I'm about to get a cat-back system for my Z!
