use magnaflow muffler on lm1?

i have 98 ss. longtubes ory, lm1. extremely loud and the cops are getting very pissed lol. my question is can i just buy a magnaflow muffler instead of the entire catback and cut out the slp resonator and weld the muffler in place?

ya they just put an article in our local paper yesterday that anyone with a loud exhaust will get a $120 ticket. ive been pulled over once like 2 weeks ago and got a verbal warning. they werent jokin either...a couple buddies of mine got tickets yesterday night for exhaust. the guy that pulled me over said any exhaust that isnt stock is illegal. is this true? i thought there was a certain like db limit or something.

im gonna take the loudmouth resonator out and put in a magnaflow muffler but the one made for our car isnt the right one bc it goes to the magnaflow catback. is it alright to just buy the universal magnaflow muffler that has single inlet, single out? i was also wonderin if anyone knew what size the pipe is in the catback on the loudmouth. is it 2.5" or 3".

ok cool thanks. what difference does how big the muffler is? like 4in round, 5in, 6in, and 7. they all have a 2.5 or 3" inlet/outlet but does the size of the muffler itself make a difference?

Well,,,ya,,,,it's going to make a difference in ground clearance. Since the Loud mouth uses a bullet muffler mounted in front of the rearend,,,and it's rather small in diameter for that reason.
I'd personally stay with something similar in size. It will still be much quieter than the loudmouth 1 resonator.

Yes, basically a larger muffler is quieter than a smaller one
