As bad as CA is Ive never been pulled over for loud exhaust, even when I drove a car with a big ass spoiler and illegal exhaust. I saw go for it if you like to run from the cops, cant get a ticket if they cant catch you. except with straight pipes theyl be able to find your ass pretty easy.

pros: people notice you from miles away, sounds like a nascar at five grand, people with other quick cars become afraid to race strickly because of the intimidation factor.
cons: cops pull you over a lot, neighbors hate you, pops and cracks a lot on decel
I ran a straight pipe for about a month after the weld on my cat-back broke

I love it I can't really tell the difference between the lm1 on my old one and this but it sounds better than my flowmaster on my 6spd

In the GREAT state of California huh??? HAHA!!!! get ready to be harassed by the CHP?? it gives them more of a reason to pop your hood and look under your car to see if you have cats or anything illegal... I've been lucky though I can keep my car kinda quiet, with the M6 and the LTs and cutout...

if you really don't want cats, at least get some cheap cats and gut them, so if u get stopped you wont get a huge fine

Ok...I've got True Duals with some sort of cats on it coming out with no mufflers. I think it sounds great.
Having an m6 allows me to keep it quiet, until i get on it and hit about 4K+...then its got a pretty mean bark.
It reminds me more of a track car than my DD.
