stock y-pipe tubing

[LT1 > LS1]

do you guys know what diameter the tubing is? it goes from the manifolds, then the driver side comes of to passenger side, stays in 2, then merges into 1 at the catalytic converter. I was gonna buy a 2 into 1 stright pipe from jegs. they are like $15, and I know a guy that welds.



so, do you guys know? my car came from the factory with the "low restriction" exhaust. I dont know the difference. I tried wrapping a piece of string around on of the tubes, then measuring it, and its came out like 2 3/8"


I dont think thats right is it? btw, the car is a 95, single cat

im not sure about '95, but my stock y pipe is fucking tiny on my '99z(never realized or noticed how small it was until i was poking my head under the lift). noticed this today, had my muffler put back on earlier today. looked like 2 inches, or so.

The stock Ypipe is crap. Anything you can do to get more flow is better.

thats why i cant wait for my LTs so i can bolt them up with the qtp y pipe i have beefy as hell
