    Stock OD size of MAF

Hey guys, so i ordered a stock replacement MAF for mine after getting a little crazy with the dremel on it. BUT the one i recieved is about 80mm outer diameter with my wussy ruler. I havent taken my old one back off yet, but the one on my car was significantly larger. Infact to the point that the new one i got fit inside the old ones opening.

But the one on my car looks completely stock. Do i have a factory freak? or did the guy i buy it from put an vett MAF in it? I havent seen the SLP MAF So i dont know if this is a SLP or what. The sensor its self looks the same, and is the same size, and it looks like the casing screws line up. But the mouths are different.

The new one doesnt fit at any rate so i wanted to know if i actually got a stock ls1 MAF or not, because i got this new jobby on ebay and i'm going to email the guy back if its not stock...

if the 80mm OD is stock then i guess i wasted $50.

75mm is stock I believe. I would put a stock 75 back on. Ported and polished or arftermarket MAF's are junk.

i would but the air bellows between the filter and the MAF and the MAF and throttle body dont fit the stock size. I dont have an aircleaner box, i have a K&N cold air top mount unit. But the MAF that is on my car is a GM MAF, so i'm not sure whats going on there. I need to pull it off and measure it, but i havent yet.

Unfortunately this was already done when i got the car, if i just hadn't been so dremel happy i'd be fine, but i didnt realize that "porting" your MAF caused tune issues...

    Now i do..

Right! If you don't have a tuner, a aftermarket MAF isn't worth it. Why buy a $300 part and pay someone around $400 to tune it and only maybe pickup 3HP. The stock untouched one is good for 500 horses.

well i found my problem, i went to a local dealer yesterday and talked to the parts guy and one of the mechanics and he told me that the WS6, SS, and Z06 use a larger MAF, a 1.5 airflow and the standard models use the 1.0 so i'm guessing the MAF i picked up off of ebay is a standard 1.0.

So now i'm bidding on a MAF from a 2001 WS6 with 64k miles on it. The picture looks about right to me. So i guess we'll see. Hopefully i can sell this 1.0 MAF on craigs list or something.
