Starter
So, the starter went out on my '01 T/A this morning. At least I am assuming it's the starter, when I try to turn it over there is no response at all. I tested the battery and it is fine. My problem is the shop I normally take my dd to said the starter will be $250, not including labor. That seems pretty steep for a starter, or am I just out of touch with price increases since I quit working on my last T/A in the early 90's?

the starter is like 175-200 bucks new. Don't pay a shop, it's only held on by two bolts and it's couple of wires, it's right on the bottom and easy to get to. You can swap it out in like 15 minutes. Seriously.

If it doesn't even CLICK, you may wanna try the cheap the easy route first; make sure the relay for the starter is good.

Turned out to be the VATS system. The resistor in my key went bad apparently, because it starts with the spare key, but not my normal key. So, guess I will be ordering a replacement key just in case my spare key goes bad.
