Spark plug question
Ok, I have read a few articles on here about the NGK TR55s. That is the plug I am leaning towards since everyone raves about them. So, I headed down to my local parts store and found the TR55s to be quite cheap $2.82 each, sounds good to me. Well, the guy behind the counter said the iridiums are better he didnt have the TR # off hand, but gave 7397 as a reference number at $11.78 each. So, me being the novice is asking people here....are you guys running the regular TR55s or are you running the iridiums? How much difference does the expensive set make? Thnaks in advance

I run the regular TR55 gapped at .055. I have tried the iridiums but they were to hard to gap. The iridiums may last longer but I have no issunes changing spark plugs with my LT headers. Only takes 30 mins to change all 8.

Thanks for the input. I am kind of stuck between the autolites and the Tr55s. I want to use the TR55s, but I have read a couple posts about running a hot plug might cause detonation errors. Have you guys ever responded to this? Through reading, I have learned the iridums are the same performance, but last longer. Since, I am not sure how the NGKs will run....so ill prolly just go with TR55s, unless someone scares me out of it....lol

I have Denso Iridiums. More expensive, yes, but they last longer. Performance differences between these and cheaper ones are negligible while each is in good operating condition. Essentially, you pay more just to get longer change intervals.

Thanks for the input. I got the NGK TR55s and some MAF cleaner. Gonna do some TLC tomorrow and hopefully it gets rid of my rough idle. If it doesn't Im goona order the MSD wires, change the fuel filter, and maybe clean the injectors.
Unfortunately when I bought the car 3k miles ago, I got a big ZERO for maintenace records.

I had a hard time getting the guys at my autoparts store to find the TR55. Try using the part name NGK 3951 and see if they can find it that way.

$7 would be a dream. I live on a tropical island...the only chain is NAPA and they were $12 there. If they were only a couple dollars more I would have gotten them, but $100 for plugs was a little much IMO. I didnt feel like waiting to win some off ebay and shipping them in. If I like the TR55s, then Ill look towards the iridiums next time. Pushead, thx but NAPA had no problems finding the plug when I gave them the model number.
