So how restrictive are cats?
I have the stock system on a 98 Z28 and i was wondering if taking the cats off would net me any significant hp? It seems like a clog in a pipe to me, so i would imagine it would be a decent gain...let me know

The only way you'd want to get rid of the cats if if you want the exhaust to be loud and raw all the time, and you don't mind the bad exhaust smell, and cackle sound the exhuast will make.
Also, you'll need a way to delete the codes your computer will trigger (tuner) or buy o2 sims for the rear sensors.
Best bet, just buy an electronic cutout. The exhaust will be as loud as you want, when you want. And as free flowing as possible. Plus it's cheap!
