    Shorties vs LTs

Hello LS1 brothers and sisters. I am currently running Shorties bolted to the stock cats and stock Y-pipe followed by a LM2. I am thinking about LT's and high flow cat setup. My question is if I just get Random Technologies high flow cats and y-pipe to bolt up to my shorties, how much difference in HP can be expected as opposed to LTs and high flow cats?

    Thanks

Definatley go with LT's.....with shorties (even with high-flow cats and a bigger Y) the gain is only 1/4 of what you can get with some good LT's.

Which shorties do you have? If you go with LT's I might buy'em from you....i'm in cali so I can't put on LT's.

BTW I have the random-tech Y w/cats with stock manifolds.....they make a very good product IMO. The exhauist did get a little louder and breathes better after the install....that might just be because my stock cats were shit. You can buy the random-tech cats that'll go with LT's.

Thanks for the reply SeVeReDiStOrTiOn. My shorties came on the car when I bought it. I was told they are BBK. If I go with LTs I'll keep you in mind. I am a bit leary of LT's because I see some horror stories about putting them on. Over on LS1Tech I see pics of LTs rubbing the steering linkage. Also people have to grind down frame rails and crap to get them to not hit. What happens when the motor flexes from torque? Clearance issues reguarding car body has got me leary. Hate to drop that much coin for something that won't slip in and have sufficient clearance all around.

The horror stories are few and far between when compared to that of satified customers. Clearance issues with the ground I have heard much more of compared to issues with structure/steering, but it is your car do what you want..........

Would your shorties from '99 fit on a '00 with all EGR and AIR/Smog setups? If you decide to get long tubes, let me know i would be interested in getting your shorties from you if its a straight and easy sawp from '99 to '00. let me know. your friend to the east in Dallas.
