Is it safe to drive ...?
Hello everyone. I'm going to be going to a true dual setup soon. While I'm at it I'm going to get some Pacesetter coated LT's. I am planning on installing the headers myself, then have a shop do custom TD's. The shop is about 20 minutes away by highway. Is it safe to drive with headers only to get to the shop or should I just get it towed there? I imagine it wouldn't be any different than running a cutout open. Thanks in advance for any input.

Umm...it is WAAAAAYYYYYYYY louder than an open cutout on stock exhaust! MY buddy cut his exhaust at the I-pipe before installing lt's and it wasn't even close to what my open headers sounded like. Running open is LOUD and very aggrivating, but I would imagine you would be ok as long as you're not drawing too much attention to yourself.

I'm not worried about the noise. Like I said it's just to get from my house straight to the shop. If I got pulled over there's not much they could do since I'm taking it to be fixed at a shop with an appointment. Thanks guys.

yup car will be fine and the noise level is insane. I drove around for a few days with open headers and it is very very loud.

HELL YES!!! God it is unbearable. Also, chest rattle will be another thing to deal with.
I ran mine for about 2 weeks open (only drove 3-4 times though) and I even came home at about 1am and got stuck at a light next to a cop!!! I was so scared I was gonna get a ticket, but I let out the clutch nice and easy, then shifted right to 4th lol. I turned at the next light, and he didn't follow.

Red- 1998 Camaro SS
From doing this same thing with my 79 Corvette. I did not get stopped by the cops, but when I pulled up next to a cop at a light he followed me to the shop to make sure its were I was going. He then proceeded to check the car out and let me throw a few revs for him.
The sound was great and if I could run them on the street I would, as for the loudness I’d just wear ear plugs for the daily commute.1998 Camaro SS Hard Coupe Bright Red #1593
