    Replacing AIR pump:

My AIR pump is howling like a sonofabitch. It sounds terrible. Anyway, I have a few questions about it. Is this covered under the 80k emission equipment warranty, like the catalytic converters? If not, how hard is it to replace? How much does a new one cost? Is it possible to get rid of it? Let me know.

You can call the dealer and ask but don't think it is, only the cats and PCM if I remember correctly. You have a couple options depending on your state's emissions requirements - 1) leave it there, pull the fuse so the pump won't come on, have the codes deleted. 2) pull the entire system off the car, have the codes deleted. 3) replace it with another one. There's a link for removing AIR, I'll post it for you soon as I find it.

Another option is pull the AIR PUMP fuse, will give you a constant SES light for code P0412, but won't have to listen to it howl until you decide what you want to do.

I checked the warranty information book, and no, the AIR pump is not covered. We don't have emission checks here, but I wouldn't mind keeping the car legal, anyway. I'm going to have to think about what course of action I'm going to take.
