Removing the TB Spacer on '98 LS1
Hello All,
I have a 1998 LS1 Camaro with an 80MM BBK Throttle Body. It has the spacer between the throttle body and the manifold. I want to remove it because not matter how much I cut the bellows and intake hoses, I can't get the aftermark air filter lid to fit all the way (it is pushed to far forward).
However if I remove the TB spacer, the 3 allen head bolts holding the TB on are too long and will not secure the TB. I guess the spacer included longer bolts (the car came with it installed)? Does anyone know where I can get the original length TB bolts or can you advise what to do? It does not seem practical or aesthically pleasing to use washers.
Thanks,
Bill

They are just metric bolts--You can get metric allen bolts at most any hardware store--take the longer ones in--find out what size you have by trying the differnt sized nuts--when you find the size that fits--buy the shorter ones you need----

I have the same setup, but I have slp smooth bellows and lid. I cut down the one side to the length of the clamp, and mine works, barely, but seals properly. Are you using the stock bellows or aftermaket.

SLP Smooth Bellows as well. I cut it down as far as I could (I thought) but it won't seal.

I have to look at mine, but maybe I trimmed both sides, but I know mine works.
