    Question Radiator flushing.....

Couldn't get this to post in the "General Section" soooo....anyone here ever use one of those Prestone "flush 'n fill" kits to flush out their radiator? I've used them with good results on my cars back in the 80's, especially for bleeding out trapped air when refilling, but was just wondering if it would hurt anything on our cars to use em'.

I dont think it would hurt anything although make sure you dont mix coolants, it comes wit dexcool the red stuff and just make sure thats what ya put in there. Personaly im use too using a garden hose and letting it run thru the system but thats just me.

Thanx...that's what I was thinking. I just always cringe at cutting a perfectly good heater hose to splice in that tee fitting! As far as coolant, I'm stickin' with the ol' Dex. Thanx again J.

Which is the heater inlet hose?

I am going to flush my cooling system as well. I have the Prestone Flush kit and it advises that you have to to connect the tee to the heater inlet hose, not the return hose. I can't determine which is which on my '98 LS1 Camaro - they both run right into the water pump.

Can someone advise me which is the heater inlet hose - the hose towards the front or rear of the car?

Also, I have some coolant and distilled water that I have had sitting around for at least 4-5 years. The bottles are sealed. Is it still safe to use or will it break down over time?
