quiet catback setup out there?
Anyone know if there is a quiet catback setup on the market? I run autox in stock class and can't do anything but a catback swap, so that's the level of kit I'm looking for. I swapped the stock muffler for a flowmaster and although it probably gave me a couple hp, it's TOO LOUD.
The stock muffler was about right. I don't really care about sound quality as long as it doesn't sound like a lawnmower, but it seems like every catback on the market brags about how "good" they sound. The most impressive car I've ever driven was a vette and at wide open throttle the car was quieter than my LS1 at idle... That's what I'm looking for. More power from a catback, but no more noise than the stock exhaust and no droning on the freeway.
Anyone know if such a thing exists? I figure if a 400hp vette can be that quiet, I ought to be able to quiet down my nearly stock LS1.
Thanks in advance...

I think all aftermarket catbacks are going to be louder than stock. I have Corsa (pricey) sounds great to me, and absolutely no drone on the highway. Have you checked out www.ls1sounds.com ?

I haven't checked out the sounds website... I may end up just buying a y-pipe and having some shop custom build the rest of the system from 3" pipe and a quieter muffler.

hooker has been known to be one of the quietest cat backs available, especially with stock manifolds.
