QTP Electric cut out BLEW UP today

i was just cruising around today and went to flip the switch to open up the cutout, about halfway open i heard a loud pop. i looked in the rearview just in time to see all kinds of small parts fly off. it worked great untill today. i know i didnt run over anything and i know it didnt catch on anything in the road... it just BLEW THE FUCK UP!

    here are some pics

just one of those days i guess

Looks like it's been on the car a while - think they'll still fix it for a fee even if it's out of warranty. When mine broke I just took it off the car.

From what I heard this is a moderatly common issue. My freind actually is having to replace his QTP as well. The servo motor basically fell off. It had been on the car though for like 2 years and not sure what the life span of those are given the heat they endure.?
