Black- 1999 Trans am WS6
Professional Opinion
I just signed up to the LS1 club, I was just wondering what would be the best exhaust system for a 99 trans am WS6 to include headers?
and what is the differance between long tube headers and the regular short headers?

SLP are the worst headers on the market, along with many of their other products. Bad quality, over-priced, and piss poor customer service to name a few.
Headers: Kooks/ARH/Pacesetter - From best to good in price and quality. The main thing to go with in header selection is Stainless Steel if you can afford it.
Exhaust: Personal preference, but the most popular is Magnaflow. GMMG, Corsa and Borla also make nice pieces, but are very pricey. If you plan on keeping the stock manifolds, which it doesn't sound like you do since you are asking about headers, SLP Loud Mouth I/II sounds nice on STOCK manifolds. It sounds obnoxious loud with aftermarket headers.
www.ls1sounds.com has many different combinations, but it is still difficult to get a feel for the "true" sound of each as hearing over a computer does not compare to hearing it in real life.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
As long as you avoid SLPs sad excuse for parts, you get a passing grade. If you put SLP crap on, you get a failing grade.

blue and white- 99 transam 30th vert
professional opinion
I have a 99 30th anniversary t/a, I put pacesetters and the hooker catback exhaust on it with an off road y pipe, it sounds excellent, it is a bit loud. My car is garaged kept and gets few miles so I did not worry about the stainless, I also live in Florida so there is no salt etc. Whole system was about 1100.00, get the coated headers for sure. That 1100.00 did not include someone installing it.

I would recommend coated as a second option. Get stainless if you can afford it.

Highly recommend coated headers over painted.
This was taken after install before Frost Tune

Silver/Black- 00' z28-R.I.P 00' WS6 M6
As others have stated as long as you stay away from slp whatever combo/choice you make should be fine. I purchased a y-pipe from them 4months ago and i'm regretting it
