Ported throttle body/ bump stop mod

I've got a 00 Z28 M6 with a lid, k&n filter, and a flowmaster cat back. Will a ported TB and bump stop mod make much difference in power? Is it worth the cost? What about getting a bigger TB. How much bigger than the original can or should I go without changing the intake, and who makes a good one?

A ported TB is always a good thing, and will definately help out later with bigger mods.

    LS6 Intake

Why not install LS6 Intake too? It looks identical but flows more. More Power!!!

You can order a ported and polished TB from several places, or do it yourself if you're any good with dremel type tools and spend the $$$ on something else.

Here are some pics of a port job. There is a good site on how to do it, if I find it again I'll post it here.

sure it'l help. i had mine professionally done (cost me $70) and he did the bump stop too. you wont feel any huge differences but it should be good for around 5-7 more rwhp. i personally wouldnt spend several hundred dollars for a new, larger tb....unless you were gonna go with a tb/intake combo like the fast 90/90 setup.

I did the bump stop on my stock TB and noticed a gain at WOT.....loved it.Seat of the pants feel was great! So my TB must not of been opening the max amount.
But the write ups linked to so far are terrible so here is a better one........look for bump stop mod under install documents.

A ported tb and ls6 intake are excellent mods, especially if you just have a bolt on car. There is really not a need to step up to the 90/90 unless your running a big cam and heads that can make use of it.

If you get a LS6 intake ($370-$50 for selling the LS1 intake=$320) and the factory TB ported ($70), you will most likely end up with about 12rwhp.

Yea the gains from an ls6 intake are usually about 20rwhp, and a ported tb is good for about 7rwhp on a completely stock car and about 12rwhp on a bolt on car. I have personally seen my ported tb pick up 16rwhp with an ms3 cam only car and no additional tuning. I picked up .5 and 4.5 mph in the quarter switching from the ls1/stock tb to ls6/ported tb. This swap was done at the track so all other factors were the same. Tim

Nope they are all the exact same housings. Everything is interchangeable but the throttle shafts are different from different years. 98-99 are different from 00-02.
