    opened the cut-out

Opened the cut-out for the first time today. Sounds like crap. And for some reason it felt weaker. Is there a certain position in the exhaust system where the cut-out would be most effective?

It feels weak because you lose a little torque but the top end is stronger. I actually pull off my y-pipe before I go race at the track and I gain about 3 mph consitently. As for the sound its just a matter of what you like. I like it at wot.

The car is all stock all the way down to the lid. It does have a flowmaster but that's it. I'm in the dark as to why the previous owner would add the cut-out unless he was racing it. Most likely he had some aftermarket parts on it and took it all off before he sold it.

First hp mod will be LS6 crate engine. I refuse to mod the LS1 as it has 141k on it. So for now, mainly cosmetic or suspension upgrades will take place.

You can still bolt on some LT's and ORY. These should still work with the LS6 right? I had a Ecut-out on my 99 Z28 with just an ORY that bolted up to the stock manifolds, it sounded alright but not exactly how I thought it would. My current car has LT's ORY and the same Ecut-out kit on it and it gives me an eargasm at WOT. I havent had it dyno'd since I put on the cout-out but Will find out this spring when I get my cam swap done. FWIW I say keep the cut-out an get LT's at least.
