Oil Pan Gasket Replacement
Need some quick help on situation. I have the heads, intake, manifolds, timing cover, off the block and I want/need to replace oil pan gasket. I will be replacing Oil Pump also, and I know you need to drop the pan a little just to do that. Can I remove bolts in Mounts and pickup engine enough to clear pan removal. Do I have to unfasten anything else besides mounts to get motor to raise up on a engine lift? Thanks for the response..

Why do you want to replace the gasket ? They are pretty good - sounds like unecessary work.

Really don't want to, but I feel that the leak puddle is growing. I have read all over LS1 that most deal with this issue, and there are several fixes. If it's just leaking at the joint of the crank cover and pan lip than can't I just lay in some RTV while I have it dropped down a bit for the oil pump replacement? Speaking of...I do have to drop the pan a little to get the pump off right?
