One cat after the y pipe won't clean the exhaust good enough to be effective, won't get hot enough. Will basically act as a muffler. Wouldn't really be legal either, if that's what your after. If your town does strict visual emmission inspections they'll know there's supposed to be two cats after the manifolds. If theirs no visual inspection just go with no cats. My car has passed two or three times now with LTs and an off road y pipe.

Its true, your car will not pass smog with one cat after the Ypipe. Ive done this and never worked for me on either of my cars. They dont get warm enough and isnt effective either at cleaning up the emissions. If you wanna pass smog you would put a cat on either side of the ypipe right after the headers. Even with high flows you should have no issues passing, as stated though if there is a visual you might not pass either way since the cats have been moved from there original locations meaning further down. Im gonna install LT's and ORY and call it a day, ive never really had any issues with cops looking underneath my car or pulling me over for me being loud and trust me ive had really loud cars, lol.

The problem is I live in Cali so ...i dont think they will do a visual but will it pass emissions without the cats?

Pony eater just see if you can find a shop that will let you "PASS" for a little $. I'm in the same situation right now prob going to put LT's and ORY on this summer but there is a few shops around that will "pass" me.

I have these headers on my car. I'm pretty happy with em, theyre real heavy duty, flanges are super thick, but emissions arent an issue here in Iowa.

83 Z28 new project- 98 Formula WS7-sold:(
I had them, no probs with the headers, y pipe however, is another story. I had a custom y made up, the one with the kit with all the pieces and band clamps just sucked.

I found mine on ebay. Just search "LS1 headers" they'll probably come up. I used everything in the kit and had no problems, except I bought new gm gaskets.
