New plugs

Hello everyone. I need advice on plugs. Should I go with the NGK regular plugs or the platinum ones. The car still has the factory ones with 92,000 miles. The tr5 or tr6. I live in south fla its always hot out. Its 88 degrees as I write this. Thanks. The car is stock except a lid.

TR5-GP plugs are good. might as well get some new wires while you are at it.

ok, are the Autolite wires any good they are 42.00 dollars. I dont race.

can't be mad at autolite.. it's not about racing tho... ita about getting the most spark and energy to your plugs. I used the MSD 8.5mm super conductors. they are pretty comparable in price. it's personal preference tho. good luck.

Use the NGK TR-55. Part #3941 I believe. If you want to spend a buttload more you can use the TR-55 IX irridium ones.

I would stick with the stock wires unless one has a problem. Then go MSD if one needs replaced.

As for plugs, I run NGK TR55's or AutoLite AR103's in mine.

my tuner told me to run tr6 cuz it a step colder, and it would be better than my delco iridiums witch runt too hot and cauze detonation

Yes tr-6 is a step colder but unless you're running FI or nitrous....it's not working to your advantage. Perhaps use a tr-55 and a slightly wider gap than factory setting. What reason would your tuner want to run a colder plug anyways? Never heard of that on a stock motor.

It is because the TR55's tend to run pretty hot for a stock replacement plug. Nothing that will create a problem by any means though.
Thing is, the TR6 is a little too cool for the stock motor.

This is why I am going to try the AutoLite AR103's.

I've never heard that before. Plugs are built to specific heat ranges...the tr55 is built to same spec as factory. A motor doesn't control how hot or cold the spark is...that's from the content of the plug combined with the electrical supplied current. But as you mentioned...using a different brand plug may work better for your motor and/or conditions.

I've had great luck with NGKs in all my vehicles. The TR-55 is a great choice for a stockish LS1. My LSx 382 used TR6s because I was spraying a 150shot on top and liked the colder range for the increased cylinder-pressure. I like stock or GMPP red plug wires.
