    Need help with stock manifolds

So my car has a crap ton of miles on it and I will be replacing the ORY(manifolds to y-pipe) this weekend. I think im going to buy both new 02 sensors and new gaskets . I hope I wont break any bolts of studs off in the manifold .. and what do you guys recommend to use to get the bolts loose?(and reused them) I was going to let them soak over night in PB blaster. and does anybody know if I will need any special tools?

What size bolt plugs the o2 bungs btw?

Ill post some pics when Im done. My DAPO cut out one cat and butchered where it mounts to the car.. Ill also be painting the rest of the exhaust while she is out

Cant afford them at the moment. Already bought the y pipe for 189. Ill probably keep this setup till I throw a built ls6 in her. Cant have much downtime till I get another DD. which will be when it starts getting below 32 degrees..( im not driving her in snow.. never again!)

I looked at the bolts and they look rusted to shit.

You could have gotten the ebay headers for that price and some flex pipe to make a Y.

I may try them. I want to do a turbo setup down the road, but until that time comes I want a bit more power and sound cheap.

Soak them in PB and don't us an impact gun. Go slowly Do a few turns in one bolt then another while the first cools down and so forth. Go to the dealer and get a couple replacement bolts just in case as you do break (that way you are not waiting and you can get on with the job) if you end up not using the bolts you can always return them.

Make sure the car is nice and warmed up or you will break them. Other than that think the socket was a 10mm.

I don't think you do they are double sided bolts if you can call them that, but if you can get the rest of the rest of the bolt of the manifold you will have to drill it out.

Take your time. as many factory Y's as i have taken off (40+) i would say i have broken manifold studs off reguardless of how gentle I was with them. It all depends on the car. some cars come out like cake, others are a PITA. Sometimes the whole stud will come out but thats ok. If you can, spray them from both the bottom side, and also the top side where the actual stud exits the back side of the manifold flange. good luck.

Y-pipes are pretty easy. this should only be like a 1.5hr job on jackstands. The o2's will need a 7/8" wrench to take them out.

if your new o2's dont already have some one it, a little antiseize on the threads is a great idea......hope this helps you out
