    Need exhaust help....

I currently am running the slp loudmouth (1) catback system. I want to get headers and a y pipe before i get a tune for my 3.73 gears. What do you suggest is the best set up to go with the loudmouth exhaust to increase performance but without sacraficing my hearing? Thanks for the help, and keep in mind it needs to me California emmisions legal!!!

slp longtube headers....they claim 40hp increase. if your car is an auto your choices for headers will be somewhat limited. i dont think headers will make a difference in emissions....just keep the cats and whatever else was equipped with ur car for exhaust. anyone else please feel free to chip in if u know more about emissions....

I have heard that there are bad clearance issues with these headers is this true?

Yes, the SLP Longtube headers can have clearance issues, especially if your car is dropped.

Are you talking short headers? because I dont think your gonna make it out in cali with long tubes. But if you are getting long tubes then you gotta go by what you want as far as quality. Anylontubes are gonna sound about the same. The difference in sound comes from the catback. Are you looking for a good stainless header or are you looking for a cheap bang for buck?

I was thinking about scraping the whole cat back to begin with. All I have heard about headers+loudmouth exhaust, is all bad. Unless I can hear otherwise I think I am just going to go with a different set up.. I have already tried ls1sounds.com and everything on there i don't comprehend what they have done. What is the best exhaust setup with headers that everyone is running, that keep in mind is california legal!!!

Well I had the Dynatech supermaxx system with a magnaflow. I think thats a great setup. The magnaflow just might be best for you because its a little quieter but it does shred at wot. There really is no best setup. The difference between all these setups are very mininal. Sounds like your a little lost with all this. I remeber before I ever got a catback and long tubes,I spent endless worthless hours trying to decide what to get.

Are you aware that ALL long tubes are technically illegal by the books?

Thats what i'm trying to tell you. Personally, I wouldnt even fuck around in cali. The fing dmv does random road tests out there dont they? I hear the fines are rediculious. Your best bet is to talk to some of the guys from cali and see what they are running

So you suggest I just stay stock with the cat back? Because I won't see much gain from shorties?

Yes everything you have said is true!! That is why I hate living in California, it does have its upside though, like sunny all the time!!! I will ask around here and see what everyone else is running. Unless someone from Cali, has some suggestions!

yeah i wouldnt screw with the headers out there just to much trouble and the shorties just are not worth the money for so little return out of them.
