nasty idle.
this is probally a stupid question, but who cares.
is there any way i can get a sick nasty sounding idle w/out a cam or headers? at a stop sign, or light i want my car to sound like its going
to cause a freaking earthquake. im pretty sure id need a cam to make this possible, but never hurts to ask.

you can lower your idle a little but it still wont have a cam sound

get the bad boys soundtrack ready also.. for some reason a "nasty idle" attracks them like you got a trailer full of donuts in the back.. go figure.

at this entire thread. Buy a huge cam like others that doesnt make power till 4000 RPM and you will impress everyone at stop signs..... and the mustang you lose to on the street will also like you.
The whole "nasty" idle thing just doesn't do it for me, Sure it does sound cool.... but from a street performance stance, the loss of low end power/torque far out weighs the " oooooo cool, nasty idle".
Rant over.

i cant really justify getting a cam for my car. i mean, if i was going to be taking it to the drags every weekend i would, but im more interested in the sound than the performance. so ive just decided to ditch my super 40 and put a turn down before rear axle, set an appointment at an exhaust shop to get it done after i get off work tomorro. i already have no cats, soon to be no muffler. so the "loudness" factor will be raised. i know it wont really be the same as if i cammed it, but im pretty sure it will sound good and i will like it. figured id give it a shot. hell, if i dont like it, i can have the super 40 put back on.

you won't get the sound you're looking for without changing cams unless you are simply looking for loud truck sounding noise. Also as someone has already pointed out getting a real lumpy cam generally means giving up a lot of low end. If you don't get too carried away you can get a decent sounding cam add a 4.10 gear and hang onto some low end....the only other option is to wait for Comp to come out with a Thumpr for an LS...

well, for the time being, problem solved. i had my super 40 cut off right behind the rear axle. loud and mean sounding. i like it. fyi, no cats/no muffler.
