more aggressive sound?
Guys, bare with me on this dumb question, I'm learning as I go along...
I recently picked up a 94 Formula LT1 with only 50k on it that I would like to make sound a little more aggressive without doing headers right now (but will further down the road w/duals). Right before I bought the car, the previous owner put a Flowmaster on there. Nice sound, but I know it's not the most popular muffler on this site for various reasons.
As far as induction goes, I just threw on a K&N FIPK and also did that homemade forced air mod (cut open hole and put a scoop and screen on underneith). Added a 1LE elbow and airfoil too. I've noticed a big improvement from all this (little more power, better mileage, deeper sound), but I'm looking for a little more aggressive sound....it's fun beating stangs out there, but I'd like to sound better doin it.
Some guys said cut the cat off and go straight to muffler, some said leave cat on and cut off muffler, some said just swap the stock cat for a hi flow cat....has anyone done any of these 3 or any suggestions?...I know I should just wait until I do headers w/duals, but that could be awhile (med bills due first) and I'm too impatient.
Sorry again for dumb question!

a great cheap option is a cutout. A manual one is only about $50 and then probably another $50 to weld it in. A cheap option that you can do to hold you off until you can afford the headers and duals.
the options you suggested are fine too

The Flowmaster sounds great on the LT1, take the cat off and it'll turn alot of heads. If you don't wanna ditch the cat then Borla makes the baddest sounding catback for the LT1. If that's too exspensive then the Loudmouth will do the trick for half the price.

since I'm looking for a cheaper alternative until I put the headers w/duals, I may just throw a loudmouth on...but I'd like to first try try taking the cat off like mentioned and run straight to the flwmaster (cheap n ez). If I do that, will it cause any potential harm or throw a code?
Again, learning as I go along...THANKS!

Since there is no post-cat O2 sensor, you shouldn't throw a code. And no harm if done right, you're exhaust will just smell like a vehicle from the 60's.

Might throw a code but won't hurt anything. My friend used to have that setup on his 95 and it sounded mean.

BLACKLT1Z28 and INMY01TA, you guys are awesome!
Knowing me, I'll take a long lunch within the next 2 days to get cat off now.
Thanks for your help Guys!

All you need is some liquid wrench and a sawzall. But I'm pretty sure you'll need to have a straight-pipe welded up in place of the cat though.

I've done both no muffler with cat and no cat with stock Z-28 muffler. I liked the no muffler sound a lot especially at WOT (wide open throttle). Sometimes it sounded like a tractor but hey what do you expect...no muffler!!! I think you will love the no cat flowmaster approach. Lucky you with only one cat I miss my lt-1 z-28 days. Reminds me of my undergrad years.

Nice!!! Let us know how you like it. Also, see if he will let you drive around the block (or at least start the car and rev it) right after he cuts the cat off.
