Well, I am going to be making a fiberglass hood for my z28 soon and was going to actually put the 2 little vents that are just for decoration to use and actually make them vent.

But then I was wondering...how would it work if I modified a cold air intake and made a scoop to let the cold air intake exit there to let air flow right into the cold air intake? Would that work better or be a waste?

Also, I was thinking about making a fiberglass hood just for the drag strip. I was thinking about making a long school that covers a lot of the front of the hood and make it get smaller until it connects to the original intake pipe which should get tons of air. Would that work or am I going over my head?

That is sort of the idea. I make a big scoop in the front of the hood and make it get smaller and then connect to a pipe that takes the air right into the engine. I'd just have to find a way to use a air filter.
