    modded, now for a tune?

    hey guys,

so here is my situation, it's been over a year of ownership of my ws6 TA and i've so far have the following mods with no tune what so ever:

    free ram air
    egr tube delete
    ported and polish tb
    k and n air filter
    slp lid
    pacesetter long tubes
    pacesetter ory y-pipe
    tsp catback
    ls6 intake manifold

How much hp/torque would u guess i have now? apparently my best run was 5.3 seconds 0-60 after all these mods on an A4 and according to sources, stock A4 times on ws6's is 6.0 seconds.

If i were to get a tune, how much hp/torque would i gain and would it be worth it? Would it affect my mpg on city/highway? as you know i'm a complete noob on this topic, please help!

With those mods I would save my money on a full dyno tune and get a mail order from Frost. His name is Steve, send him a PM here or an email from his site.

With the mods you list, at the very least you are running at a lean A/F ratio, I would get a tune before you burn the motor up.

Hard to know until you get it measured for AFR. With all the work you have done the tune would probably be well worth it. I doubt you will feel the difference, but your car will run better and safer with proper air/fuel, timing, no SES light, etc. Plus you will know how much power it makes.

Definitley get a tune if u have no other mods to do. Your engine will be breathing normally. Ur A/F ratio, timing, codes etc... will all get fixed and you will know your exact hp and tq numbers.

so far the car runs very well, idle is normal, 500 rpm, no surging, gets better gas mileage than it was stock. cause i was wondering if the tune would worsen my gas mileage in exchange of performance?

You are getting better gas mileage because you are running LEAN.

I always thought you would run lean as well with a full exhuast if you dont have a tune, but i dont know when or were but i saw that in our cars you can run rich and thought that Frost posted that a little while back in regards to this subject but i could be mistaken and im sure Frost will step in to correct me if im wrong. To be exact i will hit him up and see what he says.

This link will explain it better than I ever could:

    http://www.bristoldyno.com/tech/airfuel.htm

My Z28 (Sara) had the A/F ratio set @ 13.2:1 (WOT) after the dyno tune.

hmmm i wait till my ses light comes on telling me i'm running too lean, but that has never happen ever yet..

But apparently running to lean can cause engine to over heat as there is more air than fuel? as it looks like running to rich can help cool your engine ahh still kinda confused
