Ok I'm really stuck here. I need to know if anybody uses Mid Length Headers on there Stock LS1? If so what kind do you use, hp gains and do you maybe have any dyno print-outs to let me see the gains? Please help, any and all information will be greatly appreciated. Thank You Jamie55

    Mid Length Headers

Oh yeah I forgot I have an auto transmission and the reason for the Mid Length Headers is for emission legal.

Mac midlengths put down very good #s on a stock LS1, bout the same that long tubes would. The big advantage to long tubes is if you ever cam the motor, then the long tubes would be more beneficial than the midlengths.

Not sure on an LS1, but would mids keep it emissions legal? I thought only shorties would, visually anyways. Exhaust wise, longtubes can pass emissions, but from what I'm told, only shorties will pass visually.

anything other than a shorty header will move the cats back making it a so called no no.
that being said, mac mids are really good headers.

get a stall conveter before headers. for an automatic car, a stall provides the best performance gains out there

Mac mids are no more emissions leagal than long tubes. I had em for years, good headers. Got long tubes now, even better.

Hm it says that Gobson Mid Lengths are emission legal in 49 States. Any truth to that. I am going to up grade to Super Charging so just go with LT's. We don't have look at inspections here in WA just the sniffer. Thanks Jamie

I don't think anyone picked up on this.

If WA doesn't do a "visual" inspection who cares. Since your car is OBD-II they shouldn't even do the "sniffer" test. All they'll probably do is plug in their scanner and make sure there are no codes.
