    Cool Magnaflow or no????

I was told by the PO that the car had a Magnaflow cat back system installed and I didn't think anything of it because the chrome tips said Magnaflow on them. Well, I had the car up on stands last night checking fluids and such and noticed that there is no muffler at all! Where there would usually be the muffler at the back there is pipe. Did Magnaflow even make a kit that went straight through without muffler??? Very weird and just curious if anyone had ever seen this. It sounds sweet but not sure what that does to the performance. I didn't have the camera out there so no pics, sorry.

I think you can buy something from Magnaflow thats like a resonator shaped kind of like the SLP loud mouth resonator. Did you notice anything between the end of the y pipe and the axle?

is there a bullet muffler anywhere . . maybe in the I pipe? if so, maybe the po meant it is maganflow brand, which would mean it was a custom job not a catback "kit".

edit: you beat me to it y2k!

I'll try and get under there again tonight (maybe get a pic or two) and see what's there. I didn't notice anything last night, but I wasn't really looking there either.

So I got under the car tonight and it appears that the muffler was removed and they put in another pipe, but not round, almost like it's flattened on either side of it. Could be a kit of some sort, but almost looks likes something a custom shop would have done. Actually looks nice and the exhaust is symmetrical, which is a must for anything that comes out the back of my vehicles!!! No resonator or muffler anywhere to be found. I hate trying to figure out what the PO's do before you buy a car!!!!

i think you just have magnaflow tips with straight pipe exhaust. . .the piping does not look like any catback has ever been used, at least not magnaflow's stainless pipes.

It actually sounds very nice, kinda deep sound. The bummer is I figured the price of the cat system when I bought the car. Lesson learned I guess. Still got a good deal IMO.

Like I said, it sounds nice, so I'll wait until I have some extra cash to put the true system on.

    dang the bad luck!!!

Just looked up those tips though, they are about $75 a piece!!! They are double walled!

Sure I did. I looked for frame/floor damage as much as I could. I didn't look to see if it had a muffler! It's not like you can just roll right under these cars and see everything. Did the Carfax to make sure it had never been totalled/flooded etc.
