magnaflow catback
Hey everybody i just signed up for this website a few weeks ago and ive got my first question for you. I bought myself a 1998 z28 about a month and a half ago and im just about to buy a magnaflow cat back but i wanna make sure i will be able to install it by myself. I read on their website and i think can do it and from what i understand is that i just cut the stock exhaust just before the axle ( do i just do this with a hack saw? or something else) and then i just take off the old exhaust and then i just place the new exhaust in the old hangars and tighten some band clamps. Is their something im missing or is that it? so what im basically asking are all the tools i need a hacksaw and some wrenches? and will i have to buy anything on top of the catback? thanks for any help

Nope installing a cat-back is very easy. Just need a cutting device like a hack saw or pipe cutter for the old cat-back, then loosen some bolts and its out. Then install the new Cat-back aline every thing up and tighten down the clamps/bolts and you are done. Should only take about 1 hour at most if you are mechiniclly incline. Hope that helps. Brad

Yea, I've seen/heard that it's really easy and takes very little tools. I'm going to have to pay someone to put mine on because I don't have a lift or anything to raise the camaro enough for me to really get under it and do it in less than a day.

thanks for the reply's. also how high will i have to lift it? will a couple ramps or jackstands be high enough? and also is it going to hurt anything if i start it without a cat back at all and just hear how it sounds with an open y pipe?

The only thing that would make it "illegal" would be the amount of noise you'll be making. That's pretty much like running a cutout 100% of the time.
