    Question MAF question

I recently had my WS6 in the shop for a new clutch. While it was in there I had them change the plugs and do an induction clean and injector clean.

After I got the car back it actually seemed to have less power and performance and continued to degrade.
I've got MSD 8.5mm wires on order and while waiting I decided to recheck my air filter. I had cleaned and oiled it before taking it in for the clutch.

I run a Whisper lid with a K&N High Flow. Well, somebody at the dealership decided to reoil my filter and saturated it. Badly.

I recleaned and oiled the filter and pulled the MAF and carefully cleaned the sensor wires with alcohol and q-tips. It made a significant difference. Performance is better and idle is smoother.

Ok, my question. Should I go ahead and replace the MAF? I've heard in the past that once they are oil soaked they are pretty much ruined.

    Thanks,
    John

There is a crc maf cleaner spray that you can buy and it should keep you from having to replace it.

I'm going to. I've run the K&N for 80K miles. It has worked well and been cost effective until the "experts" screwed it up. It's about worn out so back to paper.
If I do get a new MAF I certainly won't put that old filter back in front of it.

Mass Air Flow meter. An array with three tiny sensor wires between the honeycomb MAF screen and the throttle body bellows.

if anybody who wants to save some $ like a buck, im a electriacian and all you have to buy is a non residue electriacl cleaner spray, which is like $3.00 but the MAF cleaner is just another way for companys to sell the same product on a different name.

Little more particular, have to use certain splices in certain spots, have to solder using certain fluxes and solder, have to crimp a specific way. All of which is in Technical Order books for us. Have to use certain guage on certain systems depending on what amperage the system operates on. No twisting wires together and taping them with elec. tape...LOL. Have to use certain gaskets on certain flanges with clamps. We pretty much have to follow Commercial (FAA reg's) and Military reg's when performing aircraft maintenance.
