LT1 Exhaust question

Recently one of my catalytic converters has gone bad on my 96 ws6. Instead of paying a couple hundred for a new one i was wondering if i could just run a straight pipe from the manifold back. If so, does anyone have any helpfull ideas or hints they could tell me? The car already passed e-check last week so i dont need them for another couple years. Thanks

Well you could gut ur current cat, pick up a junkyard one or chinazone has them listed for 90 bucks.
The only issue i would see if your 02 sensor throwing a code.
