LS1 Water Pump Gaskets
I have a 1998 LS1, I'm going to be installing a new cam and the 98 LS1's use the paper water pump gasket, the new timiing gasket kit comes with both the new metal o ring style and the old paper ones. I should be abled to use the newer style metal gaskets right?

yes, use the newer ones, they are the updated design. Just make sure you get the surfaces good and clean first.

I wonder why they give you both? i have installed cams on 99+ cars and the metal ones are much nicer, you would think they would do a TSB to replace them with the newer better ones....thats what i thought but wanted othes opinions as well. thanks !!
