    Ls1 intake vs. Ls6 intake

Granted I know the ls6 is better but what is the main difference between the two?

If I took a grinder and removed all the tabs off the ls1 intake lid would it make much difference?

I have never inspected a ls6 intake so I could not tell ya what is different between the two

Larger plenum volume. Pretty much there is more volume inside for the air to go. The TB size is the same as well as the runners.
Are you talking about the tabs on the bottom?

A lid and and intake manifold are 2 different things. I assume your talking about an intake manifold, in which case tater nailed it.

See how the bottom of the intakes are different. The LS1 curves up and the LS6 is flat. The LS6 has more volume because of that

Now that you mention it, it does kinda sounds like he means the lid baffles

Cam and/or heads too or just the intake?
I got a fast 90 for a great deal, only reason i'm sticking with it but being stock i'm probably not gonna see much over an LS6 intake.

I guess I asked 2 separate questions... lol

Yes I did wonder what the diferences between the 2 intakes was... Too bad you coulden't just smooth it out like the ls6

Also from the lid if I grinded down the tabs on the lid would that make a difference. Compared to an aftermarket lid would it be comparable or a waste of time?

Just trying to not spend dum money

It might help a little, but its not going to be as beneficial as a lid would be. Did it on a friends v6, just snapped em off. A used lid can be had for $50 pretty easily.

Never heard of any great gains by using a lager intake than the LS6 unless you got a big cam or heads and a cam then comes the larger intakes.

The cross section on the stock lid outlet is pretty small compared to an aftermarket lid. I did a side-by-side comparison of the stock piece and the SLP lid when I swapped it out. The difference was readily apparent.

Correct, but if you want to keep EGR you can get the SLP LS6 intake with the EGR provision

I have an SLP Ls6 intake for sale in the classifieds, like mentioned already, it has the EGR provision. You can decide to run or not run the EGR (ie: if you live in cali and need to pass inspection). I have had the EGR deleted and the provision capped for a few years now with no issues.
