It will bolt on ... but the water pump outlet (return) will interfere with the throttle body. You will need to use F-Body accessories to use the LS1 (or better yet, LS6) intake.

All of the F-Body brackets and accessories. You will need to have the alt relocated from the truck position to the F-Body, you will need to use the F-Body water pump instead of the truck water pump ... it is much easier getting the complete setup, then piecing it together.

i was afraid you were going to say that LOL

the second half of that question, would the work involved in that swap be worth the gains?

Well, I know for a fact the the truck intake runs out of breath at 5000 rpms, while the LS6 can go as high as 6500 rpms. If you are planning on using a cam/heads package that will require higher rpms, then yes. Swapping a regular LS1 intake in place of a truck intake, it's not worth it.

i was going to go with a comp cam, and headers,CC told me that the heads on it would be fine, but their not in the head business either tho.by what you said the upperend is gonna be balls to the wall, what about lower end?
and you are very right about the 5k and out of breath, thats why i didnt mess with the rev limiter when i used the hypertech3 programming.spin for nothing lol

Low end should be the same. Heck I put an stock LQ4 in my SS with an LS6 intake, it has more torque then my LS1 and wants to pull a tad higher in the rpms. You should be able to have a 6300 rpm rev limiter with the LS6 or better intake.

Not only will the accessory swap allow you to run a far superior intake, but just the accessory drive swap alone is worth power.

Car Craft did a 5.3L buildup titled Little Bro in late 2004. They swapped an F-body accessory drive onto the 5.3L which at the time was equipped with a mild cam on stock heads and full exhaust and gained 7HP.

An accessory drive swap and an LS6 intake with a ported stock throttle body could easily be worth an additional 30-40HP on a cammed 5.3L
