Longtubes and ORY?
Decided to go with longtubes next. Who makes a decent coated set for under $500? Emissions is not a problem so I'm gonna go with an ORY to match. Are these setups direct fit to the stock exhaust? Will I need o2 simulators? Will I have to change anything else on the car as far as emissions to get these to bolt up? (ie air injection, egr)

there is plenty of info out there if you do a search but i just bought pacesetter lt's and ory and they slip fit to my catback so it went together pretty good. I would get the 02 extensions, 02 sims for the rear or a tune to get the rear 02's deleted out of the comp, some stock gaskets or try and reuse the old ones, dont use the cheap paper ones. plan on replacing the 02 sensors upfront after about 50 miles or so, rumor has it that the ceramic coating tears up the 02's after the flake off on the inside, i can vouch for this issue because it happened to me.
I just did my instail about a month ago, went in too easy and sounds great.

here is what i bought for mine:
Pacesetter Coated Long Tube Race Headers (no EGR/AIR)
TSP Catted Y-Pipe (to keep my loudmouth somewhat tame)
EGR/AIR Block Off Plates
Better Header Gaskets
24" & 12" o2 Extensions
2 New o2 Sensors (replaced after around 250 miles of driving with new headers)

snakeskinner, how much did all of that run you?
So if I was to order them today, I'd need non-race longtubes, ory for longtubes, and o2 extensions? Any other little things I'd need? Are the stock connections slip-fit or ball-flanged?Last edited by 98eles1; 03-24-2006 at 04:03 PM.

well, if emissions are not a problem for you and you will be deleting the AIR/EGR from your car with a tune afterwards, then i'd go with the race style headers. my total cost after EVERYTHING ..headers/catted Y/o2 extensions/block off plates/better gaskets/2 new o2 sensors/mail order tune all together ran me $1210.00 and that includes all shipping/handling costs for everything. everything was slip fit and had no problems. although, instead of using the clamps for the Y-Pipe connected to the headers/catback...i welded them up to give it a more sturdy hold.

Emissions aren't an issue but I planned on keeping the egr and air. Are there any downsides other than looks? Wouldn't it just be cheaper to keep the two instead of having to purchase blockoff plates? Will o2 sims be necessary for the rear in order to keep the ses light off? What's the cheapest place to buy them from? Texas speed seems to be the cheapest I've found. Thanks for everyone's help.

block off plates arent expensive or you can have a local shop make them up for a few bucks. I decided to keep mine so it all depends on ur preference. You will need 02 sims in order to keep the ses light off, the only other option you have is to get the computer tuned and the codes deleted out but either way it will work fine

at the money you spend on o2 sims, you could take a few extra dollars and get a mail order tune. get that crazy torque management crap taken out, remove your speed limiter all kinds of stuff. but it would be cheaper to keep the EGR/AIR and just use o2 sims to keep your SES light off. i, personally, just got rid of all mine so i'd have less of a hassle in the future with SES lights and so forth. g'luck!
